So Ray Burke's house - the well-named Briargate - is to be demolished to make way for a supermarket car park. It's a shame the Government did not have the vision to do a Farmleigh on it and keep it for the nation.

It would be difficult to think of a better location for a national tribunals museum, replete with brown envelopes and sepia photos of the Minister for Social Affairs, Dermot Ahern climbing "all the trees in North Dublin" to establish that Fianna Fail was squeaky clean. A background tape could have Joni Mitchell singing "they took all the trees and put them in a tree museum".
