The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has appealed for witnesses to a road traffic incident in Castleknock, Dublin yesterday to contact it.

The incident occurred at approximately 11.45am on Auburn Avenue near the entrance to "The Pines" housing estate. A silver-grey Rover 25 and a black Opel Astra were involved in the incident.

One of the vehicles was driven by a member of the gardaí who suffered suspected arm injuries. The driver of the other vehicle suffered a suspected broken leg while the passenger in that car suffered suspected minor injuries.

All three persons involved were taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown.

The GSOC has appealed to anyone with information to contact it on 1890 600 800.

The incident was referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission by the Garda Commissioner under Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005.
