A former official of an Armagh housing association who swindled his employers out of more than £22,600 was given an 18-month suspended jail term in the city's Magistrates Court yesterday.

He is Brian Robert Sturgeon (31), now living at Sandringham Drive, in Derry. Sturgeon, formerly of Newry Road, Armagh, pleaded guilty to charges involving deception, forgery and falsifying a cheque journal. He had been employed by the Gosford Housing Association.
