Melbourne - A bomb scare against an Australian insurer yesterday forced police to evacuate hundreds of people from a 20-storey city office block in the heart of Melbourne.

A man pretending to be carrying a bomb held out in the building, headquarters of National Mutual Holdings Ltd, for four hours before he gave himself up, police said.
