London - A bishop yesterday went behind bars to conduct the first ordination of a priest inside a British penal institution.
The Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt Rev Keith Sutton, ordained the Rev Geoff Bird (55) in front of friends, family and a congregation of offenders aged 17 to 21 at Brinsford young offenders' institution.
