Former Fianna Fáil and EU commissioner Mr Michael O'Kennedy has accepted an award from the Queen of England.
He was presented with an honorary CMG by the British Ambassador Sir Stewart Eldon at his residence in Sandyford, Dublin.
The award is in recognition of Mr O'Kennedy's services as co-chairman of the British-Irish Interparliamentary Body.
