The trial of Mr Brendan O'Donnell is due to continue n the Central Criminal Court, Dublin, today, when the accused man is expected to take the witness stand for the first time.

Mr O'Donnell (21), a native of Co Clare, has denied the murder of Ms Imelda Riney (29), her son, Liam (3), and Father Joseph Walsh (37), former curate of Eyrecourt, Co Galway, in 1994. He has also pleaded not guilty to kidnapping Ms Fiona Sampson and Mr Edward Cleary on May 7th, 1994, and to having a shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life, and for unlawful purposes, on the same date.

Evidence for the State concluded last week.
