An action for damages by a psychiatric nurse who claimed she sustained back and other injuries after a mentally-ill woman patient pushed her on to a bed, put her hands around her throat and kicked and bit her, has been settled at the High Court.

Mr Justice Kelly was told yesterday that the case taken against the Eastern Health Board could be struck out with no order for costs.

The incident is alleged to have occurred while Ms Paula O'Hara (35), of Finsbury House, Ballsbridge, Dublin, was attending to patients at St Brendan's Hospital, Grangegorman, Dublin, on July 6th, 1994.
