Cairo - A head nurse who wanted some peace and quiet at work killed at least 18 hospital patients in the coastal city of Alexandria with sleeping pills in one year, an Egyptian government newspaper said yesterday.

A police investigation revealed that head nurse Ms Aida Nur Eddin had stolen sleeping pills from the hospital's pharmacy. After her arrest, Ms Nur Eddin she said she wanted "to enjoy some peace and quiet during her working hours".
