NOTO - Catholic clerics accused Italy's politicians yesterday of incompetence after one of Sicily's finest Baroque cathedrals collapsed in ruins.

The 18th-century church in the south-eastern Sicilian town of Noto was badly damaged in a 1990 earthquake and suddenly crashed to the ground late on Wednesday. Two priests were inside at the time but were not hurt.
