A new anti-sleaze party led by a man called Haughey? It certainly looked so last week, but the reality, sadly, is slightly different. First, the man isn't really called Haughey, although the names are connected, and second, the party is by no means a certainty.

The name Cathal O'hEochaidh belongs to one Charlie Haughey. Colm MacEochaidh is the man behind the proposed new party. Sean de Bhulbh's Sloinnte na hEireann says O'hEochaidh is Haughey and MacEochaidh is MacGeough or McGough so the difference is between the O and the Mac. Both versions means "horseman". MacEochaidh himself says his father's name is Keogh.
