The town of Louisburgh, Co Mayo, was given the news yesterday that next month the largest local employer, Nomadic Display Ltd, will shed 18 jobs, 40 per cent of its workforce.

The company was set up in 1979 as a provider of exhibition display stands for businesses. Siptu official Michael Kilcoyne said the workers, who had been on short time, were surprised by the announcement.
