Politicians have been asked not to put up posters in the Lucan area of Co Dublin by the Lucan Tidy Towns Committee.
"We are aware that candidates representing political parties and individuals running for election are legally entitled to flypost at election time, but their cooperation in not doing so is a sign of their commitment to a cleaner and better environment for us all," a spokeswoman said.
