No jump permit for Milligan

London - Only doctors stopped Spike Milligan from jumping from 12,000 ft to mark his 80th birthday this week. The comedian was disappointed to learn that his age and recent quadruple bypass operation make it too dangerous for him to skydive for the first time tomorrow.

"I'm having difficulty getting the doctors around here to sign the appropriate form," he told Hello! magazine.

The ex-Goon also grumbled about the Spike Night tribute to be paid to him by BBC TV this Saturday. "Somebody at the Beeb has suddenly thought, `Good God, Milligan is still alive'," he said.
