NONE OF the other bishops named in the Murphy report into clerical child sex abuse were willing to comment yesterday on Pope Benedict’s decision to accept the resignation of Bishop Jim Moriarty of Kildare and Leighlin .

A spokeswoman for auxiliary bishops of Dublin Eamonn Walsh and Raymond Field, said they were making no comment on news of the pontiff’s acceptance of Dr Moriarty’s resignation.

Fr Seán McHugh, who is a spokesman for Bishop of Galway Martin Drennan, said he couldn’t see Dr Drennan making any comment or giving reaction to the decision.
