Nine men have been arrested following disturbances in Newry, Co Down, yesterday.

Nine men have been arrested following disturbances in Newry, Co Down, yesterday.

Police were called to the Dublin Road area after fighting broke out at about 4.20pm.

According to the PSNI, there was a report of a shot being fired, and one man sustained a non-life-threatening body injury not connected to the gunshot.

The men arrested were aged in their 20s, and a number of vehicles were recovered from the scene. A suspected firearm was also recovered.

The Dublin Road was closed to traffic at one stage but has since reopened.
