A financial crisis which might leave the Northern Ireland Probation Board at least £300,000 sterling in debt could put the public at risk from offenders in the community, according to the board's chairman, Mr Brian Rowntree. The board's three-year corporate plan, published yesterday in Belfast, states that the Probation Service has been forced to cancel a crime prevention scheme and another programme aimed at eradicating domestic violence.
