Dublin radio station Newstalk 106 has confirmed that broadcaster and journalist Eamon Dunphy is to join the station in September.

Dunphy will present a new breakfast programme, going head-to-head RTÉ's Morning Ireland news show.

The programme will be broadcast between 7 and 9 a.m., Monday to Friday.

Chief Executive of NewsTalk 106 Mr Dan Healy said today: "We are absolutely thrilled that Eamon is joining us. A groundbreaking broadcaster, it is entirely appropriate that he is coming to Ireland's only talk radio station."

The former presenter of Today FM's Last Worddrive-time radio news show is in line for a six-figure sum for the Newstalk job.
