The body of a newborn baby girl has been discovered in a car in Northern Ireland.

The body of a newborn baby girl has been discovered in a car in Northern Ireland.

The infant was found in the vehicle in a street off the Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, on Tuesday evening.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a newborn baby girl in east Belfast.

“Police are assessing the results of a post-mortem examination and are continuing inquiries with the family of the baby girl.”

It is understood the baby was recovered from the boot of the car.
