Wellington - New Zealand will inevitably become a republic, the country's Prime Minister, Ms Helen Clark, has said.

Wellington - New Zealand will inevitably become a republic, the country's Prime Minister, Ms Helen Clark, has said.

"It is absurd, prima facie and objectively, to have a head of state 12,000 miles away," Ms Clark told Radio New Zealand. Ms Clark's words were the strongest anti-monarchy statements uttered by a New Zealand prime minister.
