A Connemara woman's murder trial has collapsed at the Central Criminal Court but it will resume before a new jury today.

A Connemara woman's murder trial has collapsed at the Central Criminal Court but it will resume before a new jury today.

Maura Thornton (31), Inverin, denies the murder of Kevin Joyce (59) at Upper Salthill , Galway, on July 31st, 2011.

Ms Thornton's trial opened at the Central Criminal Court in Galway last Tuesday morning and was expected to last into next week.

However, Mr Justice Barry White said yesterday he had been made aware that a juror was in possession of information which perhaps had not been in the public domain.

He said the trial would resume before a new jury.
