Liverpool - New findings suggesting that thalidomide affects human DNA are set to boost claims that the disfiguring effects of the drug can be inherited. The results of the research, published this month in a scientific journal, will be presented at a news conference in Liverpool.

The study was carried out in Australia by Dr William McBride, who first warned about thalidomide 30 years ago, and a molecular pathologist, Dr Peter Huang. - (PA)
