The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice has called for a new national strategy to tackle poverty. The group said the current strategy was "weak on targets, poor on evaluation" and did not adequately evaluate "some of the most important means to tackle poverty in the hands of Government, namely social welfare and child benefit."
