Navy arrests sixth fishing vessel in a week

The Irish Navy has arrested a Northern Irish registered fishing boat off the coast of Co Donegal.

The Irish Navy has arrested a Northern Irish registered fishing boat off the coast of Co Donegal.


The Niamh Aoineis the sixth vessel to be arrested in Irish coastal waters in the past week.

The boat was apprehended about 50 miles west of Donegal Bay and has been escorted into Killybegs  for inspection by Department of Marine officials.

Two Irish-registered, two  British-registered and two one French vessel have been detained off the west coast over the past seven days.
