ROME - The head of the UN food aid agency said yesterday that famine has definitely hit communist North Korea.
"We had been saying in the spring and early summer that this was famine in the making," Ms Catherine Bertini, executive director of the Rome-based World
Food Programme, said.
"But when you see now the pictures of the emaciated children and the bad shape that those children are in, this is famine," she said before her trip to
Washington next week where she will appeal for more aid. - (Reuter)
