The principal of the Muslim national school in Clonskeagh, Dublin, has asked the Department of Education to provide at least one extra teacher to help the school to cope with its "unique language difficulties".

Mr Colm McGlade described as "totally inadequate" a proposal to provide teachers in the school with an English teaching course, since many of its 206 pupils were trying to cope with four languages and 60 per cent did not have English as a first language.
