A South African born music publisher has been given an 18 month suspended sentence for having ecstasy and cannabis at his office in Glin, Co Limerick.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court was told that Michael Tyrer's father was murdered in South Africa last October.

Tyrer (39), single, admitted having 25 ecstasy tablets and a small quantity of cannabis at the Mall, Glin, on December 14th, 1994. He had no previous convictions for drugs offences.
