Gardaí investigating the murder of a homeless woman in the Phoenix Park last month are to travel to her native Romania as part of the investigation, reports suggest.

The body of Eugenia Bratis (50) was found in the park on August 5th. It is believed she was murdered by someone known to her.

Gardaí are said to be planning to visit the western Romanian city of Timisoara from where she originally came in an effort to trace associates who may have been in contact with her before her death.

A Garda spokesman said he could not comment on operational matters.
