Police in east Belfast have launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of the body of a man in a flat on the Newtownards Road. The man, reported to be in his 30s, was found dead in the sitting-room of his first-floor flat shortly after midday.

Neighbours said the door to the flat had been damaged. Forensic specialists were conducting a search of the flat. The man was not named and a postmortem was planned.
