A Telecom Eireann spokesman has confirmed that the company plans to combat "nuisance calls". Mr Gerry O'Sullivan said that since September a "calling line identification" service has been on trial in Cork, whereby 35,000 subscribers have the number of the phone from which the call is being received displayed on a screen.
