An epidemic of "mad politician" disease has broken out in the European Parliament, according to the Green Party MEP, Patricia McKenna. She was commenting on the decision by the Christian Democrats - the European Parliament group linked with Fine Gael - to "spearhead" a move to ban the feeding of animal meal to livestock.
She said right wing groups like the Christian Democrats were usually more concerned about supporting industrial interests than the consumer.
