PARTY of the week was the Angel Ball in the O'Reilly Hall at UCD last night. Earlier this year the driving force behind A Wear, Deirdre Kelly, set up a charity called Angels Quest to provide respite care for parents with disabled children. The ball was the charity's biggest fundraiser to date and thanks to, Deirdre's contacts it was a more, glamorous evening than usual.

Guests included Damon and Georgie Hill, Ian and Sharon Donnelly, world famous fashion photographer Perry Ogden, Andrew Heffernan, Caroline Downey and Denis Desmond, and publisher Mike Hogan and PR woman Mari O'Leary.

Naturally the raffle was no ordinary mixum gatherum of donated stuff - Deirdre persuaded several fashion designers including Lainey Keogh, Cuan Hanly and Louise Kennedy to create "an outfit for an angel". Lainey's extraordinary gold shawls were particularly stunning - the wonderfully imaginative designer has recently diversified into home furnishings and fans of her cashmere cushions and throws include regular visitors to Ireland Serena and Viscount Linley.
