A Dublin woman has found the body of her daughter who was drowned last week while on holiday in Ecuador.

Ms Aideen Redmond's body was found by her mother, Mai, just a kilometre from where she was swept away by strong currents while swimming with a friend in Zamora.

Using binoculars, Mrs Redmond spotted her 23-year-old daughter's body on Wednesday while walking the river bank in Podocartus National Park with her son James.

An official search party had moved further down the river.
