A woman and her two-year-old son have died of injuries suffered in fire at their home in Dundalk last weekend.

A woman and her two-year-old son have died of injuries suffered in fire at their home in Dundalk last weekend.

The woman (25) and the boy were on life support in hospital since the fire last Saturday at their house on the Farndreg estate.

They had extensive smoke-related injuries.

The mother died in Louth County Hospital in Dundalk; her son passed away at Crumlin Children's hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí believe a chip pan may have been the source of the fire.
