A mother and son were questioned tonight about the disappearance of a retired Northern Ireland librarian.

The 53-year-old woman was arrested at her home in the Sion Mills area of Co Tyrone and taken for interview at a police station where her son, 21, is already being held.

Mother-of-five Attracta Harron, 65, from Strabane, also Tyrone, disappeared after leaving Mass in the neighbouring town of Lifford, Co Donegal on December 11th.

Even though a body has not been found, detectives are treating the case as murder.

Items have been taken away for forensic examination at the house where the woman and her son lived.
