Tokyo - Japan's gaffe-prone Prime Minister, Mr Yoshiro Mori (62) battered by plunging polls ahead of June elections, survived a censure vote yesterday demanding his resignation.
"The motion is rejected," said Mr Juro Saito, chairman of the parliament's upper House of Councillors. The motion criticised Mr Mori for having described Japan as a divine nation centred on the emperor. It accused him of being unfit for office.
