An SDLP Assembly member and a DUP councillor are the latest politicians to receive death threats in the continuing fallout from the decision to reduce the number of days the British union flag should fly over Belfast City Hall.

Conall McDevitt, an SDLP MLA for South Belfast, received the threat in the post, while Belfast DUP councillor Guy Spence was warned by phone.

Lagan Valley MLA Basil McCrea has lost the Ulster Unionist Party whip after he had supported limiting the number of days the flag should fly at the city hall.
