Gardai have launched an investigation after a bookmakers in Co Monaghan was robbed at gunpoint by two men last night.

Gardai have launched an investigation after a bookmakers in Co Monaghan was robbed at gunpoint by two men last night.

The incident took place in a premisis on Castleblayney's Main St at 7.30pm.

The men, armed with a handgun and a baseball bat, entered the premises and demanded cash.

Staff handed over a small amount of money and the raiders fled in a Northern Ireland-registered blue Nissan car.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact them in Castleblayney or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 111 666.
