KINSHASA - The troubled UN mission investigating alleged massacres in the former Zaire remained blocked yesterday with the government sending out mixed signals on whether it had dropped objections to the inquiry. A statement released at UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday indicated that the Foreign Minister, Mr Bizima Karaha, had told the UN Secretary General, Mr Kofi Annan, fresh government conditions imposed last week had been dropped. - (Reuter)
