LONDON - British Airways said yesterday that a missile exploded eight kilometres from one of its airliners flying over Turkey after staff failed to feed details of a planned military exercise into a computer.

No one was hurt in the incident last June involving a Boeing 747 on a flight from Islamabad, Pakistan, to Manchester. A spokesman said airline chiefs had ordered staff in its navigation services and flight crew briefing departments to change the way they work.
