An opportunity for the development of the forestry sector was missed in the Budget, according to the Irish Forest Industry Chain. The IFIC's chairman, Mr Dermot O'Brien, said the Rural Environmental Protection Scheme was being favoured at the expense of Irish foresters. Forestry grants were taken into account when farmers were being means-tested for the dole or old age pensions.
