The Minister for Education, Dr Woods, yesterday praised the Sisters of Mercy for educational work in a Border community in the Republic since 1915.

He was opening a new £2 million 20-room extension at Our Lady's Secondary School, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, which received a £1.45 million grant from the Department. Dr Woods said the nuns were at the forefront in responding to the needs of the community.
