The Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands has promised her support for a cable-only music television channel planned by the singer, Mr Bob Geldof.
Ms De Valera said she assured Mr Geldof of her support at a meeting yesterday at which he briefed her on the proposals on behalf of his company, Planet 24. He is understood to have told her the planned service would have little commercial impact on existing or potential Irish broadcasters.
