A Palestinian militant group has said it killed a Jewish settler (18) kidnapped  last weekend in the West Bank.

Israeli security officials said Eliahu Asheri's body was found buried near Ramallah. They said he was shot in the head, apparently soon after he was abducted on Sunday.

The Popular Resistance Committees, which claimed responsibility for abducting both the settler and an Israeli army corporal, said in a statement yesterday that "we are running out of patience".

A spokesman for the group told the Al-Jazeera satellite TV early yesterday that the settler would be "butchered in front of TV cameras" if the army operation did not stop.
