Users of 3G mobile phone will be able to access their e-mails on their handsets as part of an agreement between Microsoft and 3G operator, 3 Ireland.

Under the terms of the agreement Microsoft will provide its hotmail and messenger service to 3's Irish customers across its 3G mobile phone network.

Initially, the services will be available to over five million customers of 3 in the Republic, Britain, Hong Kong, Sweden, Denmark, Austria and Australia with plans to expand the service to other 3 markets.
