The treatment of buildings associated with the late Éamon de Valera stands in stark contrast with those associated with the late Michael Collins, An Taisce has claimed.

It has lodged an appeal to An Bord Pleanála against a decision by Cork County Council to grant permission for the demolition of Collins’s former primary school at the Pike, Lisavaird, Co Cork.

The De Valera childhood home and national school in Bruree, Co Limerick, are maintained because of their historical associations, the heritage body said.
