The theme of the annual Merriman Summer School 1997 to be held in Ennistymon, Co Clare, from August 22nd to 29th, will be "75 Years of Independence: the Reckoning". Speakers will include Ivana Bacik, Eamon Barnes, Sir Ken Bloomfield, Bob Collins, Sean Donlon, Lelia Doolan, Tom Garvin, David Hanley, Miriam Hederman-O'Brien, Dermot Keogh and Declan Kiberd.
