LOS ANGELES - Erik and Lyle Menendez were found guilty of first degree murder yesterday for the sensational 1989 slayings of their parents whom prosecutors said were killed for their $14 million estate.
Erik (25) and Lyle (28) showed no emotion as the verdict was read. None of the eight men or four women jurors looked at the brothers who are now eligible for the death penalty.
Family members were silent as the verdict was read but Erik turned around in his seat to look at his grandmother, Ms Maria Menendez, and said: "It's okay. I love you."
