RUC detectives have launched separate murder inquiries after a woman was shot dead in Newry, and a man was found dead in a quarry in Newtownabbey, on the outskirts of Belfast. A 27-year-old Newry man is due to appear in Newry and Mourne Magistrates Court today in connection with the killing in the town of Ms Belinda Harte (20), who was found dead early yesterday in a flat. He will be charged with murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent. A 22-year-old Newry man will also appear in court charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition in suspicious circumstances. Mr Raymond Christopher McCord (22), from Alexander Park, Belfast, who was found dead in a quarry at Ballyduff Road in Newtownabbey, suffered severe head injuries. Det Chief Supt Arnold McAllister, leading the investigation, described the killing as "vicious and brutal".
