An emergency medical technician was recovering in a Cork hospital today after being stabbed.

An emergency medical technician was recovering in a Cork hospital today after being stabbed.

The man was attacked when he disturbed two men trying to rob a car outside Youghal Community Hospital at Cork Hill shortly after midnight.

The man, in his 20s, who was part of the ambulance crew based at Youghal, was taken to Cork University Hospital, where his condition was described as stable.

The two men escaped on foot.
